First Impressions: Dead Wrong (TVB, ) About Asian Fashionistas is a lifestyle blog that covers a wide range of my favorite topics from street style inspiration, beauty products, entertainment, food, and the occasional controversial debate and designer looks that we can only aspire to live in virtually.
Wore a suit And, from those rushed descriptions and hastily made judgements I just about managed to keep up. I really enjoyed this way of meeting people. The event was a complete eye opener. The guys I wrote down at the end of the night, in the hopes of matching with, were not the names on the badges I had spied earlier in the evening and assumed I would hit it off with.
Apparently three minutes is a much better decider than the human tenth of a second. The conversations were bolder and more cheeky than on a regular date. The face-to-face thing on a time limit made me brave and the atmosphere encouraged social and flirtatious behaviour. The thing about singles events and especially at one like this, where all interactions are regimented into strict 1 on 1s, is that the type of person who would go to a forced romantic situation, is the kind of person who is usually quite good with people.
All the dates were friendly and taking the attitude of ‘lets give this a go’ and ‘not taking it too seriously’.

As it turns out, it may be a whole lot more than an expression. In fact, it takes people only one-tenth of a second to make a judgment about another person based on his or her facial appearance, according to a study from Princeton University. Because other people will make quick judgments of you based on your appearance, it’s important especially in a professional setting to put forth the image that you want others to see.

Canon EOS R first impressions review and sample images Our review of Canon’s long-awaited full-frame mirrorless camera. Moses posted Nov 12th, at 1: According to Canon, that shorter mount means smaller and more responsive lenses. Although existing Canon shooters will find some aspects of the EOS R familiar, there are some pretty radical design changes that could take some getting used to. The new mount features a pin communication system, making the performance between the new RF mount lenses and the camera body faster and more precise than the typical EF lenses it uses on its DSLRs.
The camera has a fully articulated rear LCD. Moses On the body there is the addition of the M-FN bar. This is a brand new customizable bar located to the right of the viewfinder that allows for taps and swipes to control specific functions of the camera. Also new is the control ring dial found on the front of the new line of RF lenses.

To that end, it maintains the retro, modern style Fujifilm has been embracing since the start of their X series line up. That dial was fantastic. Instead, you can put controls around the dial on the shutter release. You also have exposure compensation. The Display button is all the way by the viewfinder, though in use I rarely see anyone needing to fiddle with this.

Hard to find fault at this price Product: In recent years that has been challenged by improvements to Shimano Tiagra , but so impressive is that is closing in on the top-end groupsets in pure performance terms. Shimano goes speed When speed groupsets first made an appearance, the reaction to them was reminiscent of the arrival of speed: Do we really need so many ratios? Is it just another manufacturer ploy to keep us addicts upgrading and the wheel-builders in business?
The doubters and cynics had a field day, again. The lesson being, the smaller jump between sprocket sizes is actually a worthwhile advantage. The most obvious visual connection to the higher models in the Shimano range is the sculpted heart of the groupset: This not only looks the business, but also gives owners the option of replacing rings without the need to change the whole chainset.
Other inherited Dura-Ace similarities include a longer pull-arm on the front mech, which provides more leverage to give a lighter shift action. The angular body and knuckle of the rear mech are likewise Dura-Ace hand-me-downs.

First Impressions Speed Dating first impressions speed dating Now imagine a situation that throws these feelings into hyper speed—namely, speed dating. In a typical speed dating event, single adults go on dates in an evening that each last about 8 minutes. First impression formation can be influenced by the use of
We’ve been running events since July (prior to creating this Meetup group) and already several couples have formed including our first marriage that took place September this year! There’s no silly singles games, or speed-dating at our events.
Want to shop for a potential mate but hate all the leg work? Need a service that can help you find your true love without dealing with the Mailer Daemons and other inconveniences of online dating? The 21st century’s answer to all these problems is speed dating. Designed by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo in as a way to help Jewish singles meet each other, speed dating is now a common practice enjoyed by people of different religions, ages, sexual orientations, etc.
The rules may vary by event, but the general idea is that men and women sign up for the event, held in a bar or a club, the men move down the line of women or from table and table , and you have a limited amount of time say 1, 3, or 5 minutes to figure out if the person is worth getting to know better before time runs out and it’s time to switch. The obvious advantages of speed dating in Real Life are that it provides a way to meet a lot of people in a short amount of time, eliminates pressure to ask for phone numbers, and doesn’t allow much time for things to turn awkward.
It has a lot of potential in fiction, too: Using the last one is probably not the best idea because one of the reasons speed dating makes a lot of scientific sense is that we actually do decide whether or not we’re attracted to someone very quickly , some studies say within the first thirty seconds. Yes, love is, quite literally, a crapshoot. If there are No Sparks now, there won’t be later, or so it would seem.

Jan 11, Suffering from marketing information overload? Too many marketing reports, metrics and plans, too much market intelligence, research and survey data? Thin-slicing is a neat cognitive trick that involves taking a narrow slice of data, just what you can capture in the blink of an eye, and letting your intuition do the work for you. This is the prescription of Blink , the popular psychology bestseller from Malcolm Gladwell, staff writer for The New Yorker and author of the cult business book The Tipping Point.
Blink introduces us to the power of thin-slicing by way of example. In no more than 15 minutes of observation, Gottman can predict with 90 per cent accuracy whether a couple will be together in 15 years. Or consider how an art expert thin-sliced a year-old Greek statue in the blink of an eye and was able to tell it was a fake. Or consult the retired soldier whose thin-slicing intuition can outwit the supercomputers of the US Armed Forces.
The great thing about thin-slicing, argues Gladwell, is that we can all do it, especially when it comes to thin-slicing each other. Evolution has honed our social intelligence, allowing us read people accurately based on fleeting first impressions — which is why speed dating and chatroulette might actually be a good idea. But how can marketers harness the power of thin-slicing to cut through data smog and make smarter decisions? To answer this we need to understand how thin-slicing works: Blink draws on cognitive psychology to explain how our powers of thin-slicing intuition have nothing to do with the supernatural, and everything to do with our naturally evolved adaptive unconsciousness.
First Impressions Hard to Change, Studies Suggest
When I first opened a tin of this, and took a huge sniff at the midnight-dark contents, my head reeled, and I experienced something approaching fear! The huge Latakia smokiness was there, richer than I had ever smelt it before, but stronger than this was a mysterious fermented, almost yeast-like smell. I can only compare it to smelling one of those powerful cheeses that one can find in Brno, in the Czech republic.
A very savoury scent, stong and intimidating. I like these cheeses though, and was only put off for a moment.
High-speed continuous shooting When my review unit comes in, I’ll be able to do more justice to the camera. First Impressions. I still really need to spend more time with the new Nikon.
SHARE It is still the practice of young people, and some not so young, to go to bars in order to find someone to date. It is possible to meet someone for the first time while working, or walking in a park, or in any other setting; but bars are difficult. They are crowded, noisy and raucous, uncomfortable, and filled with people who are drinking. Although these men and women may have come to the bar with the purpose of finding just the right person to date, and perhaps marry, they are not optimistic.
They are, for the most part, cynical. The men tell me they think the women are there to cadge free drinks and ridicule anyone who comes up to them. In that setting it is difficult for anyone to make a good impression. But nowadays most men and women who are interested in dating have probably communicated a number of times before they actually meet. Or they may have met very briefly at work or in some other social setting which did not allow them to do more than exchange telephone numbers.
Or they may have spoken to arrange a blind date on the recommendation of friends. More commonly, they have texted over the internet at least a few times and spoken just a little before getting together for coffee or for a drink. Sometimes they have seen pictures of each other.

After just two weeks on these latest hoops from Fulcrum, feedback from our testers has focused on just how versatile the 40mm rim depth is — climbing and riding on the flat are handled with aplomb by the carbon creations out of Vincenza. Which brings us to a standout feature of the Racing Quattro Carbon: Using wider tyres allows for better airflow over the wheel and lower inflation pressures, simultaneously improving comfort AND aero performance.
Out on the road this means speed can be maintained on the flat AND the climbs — our testers noted the speed with which they could ride with the same effort applied. They raved about the fact they could carry speed from the flat into the climbs — the Racing Quattro Carbons performed much better than a conventional deep wheel in the hills, which is certainly a big plus for all the racers out there. They remain true despite plenty of punishment — where other wheels are affected by rough road riding which may compromise performance, the latest from Fulcrum keep their shape.
So far the Fulcrum Racing Quattro Carbon has proven to be a hit because it offers carbon performance with the durability of alloy, all at a competitive price point.
